I just had a three-day vacation in Las Vegas last weekend, and I already feel like I need another one. Except this time, I might actually be able to relax.

Iapos;ve really been stressing lately. Everyone has been getting under my skin for doing things that, two weeks ago, I would just let slide as stupid, petty shit not worth thinking about. Itapos;s hard for me to explain, but the people who annoy me the most are the predictable ones. So when someone does something which I know they would do, even though I did my best to prevent them from doing it without screaming, Hey fucktard, donapos;t do what youapos;re about to do, it just serves to piss me off even more. Part of me sees it as stupidity, even though it has nothing to do with intelligence. If anything, intelligent, rational people are more predictable, not less.

But anyway, small things are starting to get to me, which just serves to piss me off more, starting a vicious cycle of pissed-offed-ness which can only resolve itself in a brilliant explosion of misplaced rage and aggression. Nah. Iapos;ll probably just make some really sarcastic comments during meetings.

Which reminds me - yesterday I had two meetings with two different clients. During the first one, I made some offhand comments about singing telegrams and flying penguins, and by the time the meeting was over, I had received several rather dubious accolades along the lines of, "Youapos;re on fire today", and "You should quit this job and do stand-up" Five minutes into my second meeting with the second client, I had her laughing so hard she actually thanked me for making her laugh, as apparently she was having a bad day.

And today I received an email from someone, recently promoted to a rather senior position in the company, that he wanted to appoint me as "Minister of Humour". True story.

Growing up, I do not recall ever being thought of as even remotely funny or witty or even generally amiable. Iapos;ve always thought of myself as very sarcastic, rather cynical, and entirely too smart-mouthed for my own good. I guess as you get older, those qualities slowly become less annoying and more endearing. Maybe it just took a while for the rest of the world to catch up to the amount of world-weariness required to appreciate my blatant apathy or loathing for pretty much anything and everything.

In all seriousness, Iapos;ve been pretty fucking stressed out and tired lately. Iapos;m proud of my accomplishments at work, but lately Iapos;ve been feeling like the lack of any traction anywhere else in my life is leaving me feeling pretty drained.

Got to go home today, after a fever-related delay that kept me there a day late. But at least Iapos;m home now.

Itapos;s disconcerting, since I was so much stronger physically before the surgery and I can tell the difference at home. I could only do one of the most easy aerobic WiiFit activities, wherwas I used to warm up on the advanced one and do the hardest one after that.

That, and itapos;s a little embarrassing how it made my day today to pass gas through means not involving burping. My stomach has been really gassy the last few days, and Iapos;m hoping now thatapos;ll go away on itapos;s own.

None of the incisions hurt except for the big one that required stitches, which is the one my surgeon actually put the tools through (all the others were just used to give him PoV of my insides. But at least my liver was not enlarged by fat so it was easier on him than if Iapos;d pigged out on fatty stuff the week before my surgery. I done good.

Hey everyone How is your day going so far. Well mine is going great. I went to school early around 8:00 and I studied and read embryology, which was really productive. Then after that I went to my field biology class and we surveyed trees again and it was pretty fun Then after that I had my advisment meeting and that went really well. I picked out my classes and I should have a really easy schedule next semester, which I am really excited for. Then after that I went back to my place and ate a pizza. I was then going to use my time to study embryology, but I fell asleep, so I will have to study tonight. I think though I know my material pretty well so I am not really all that worried about the test, plus I have 3 hours to study for it tomorrow.

Well as for tonight I am going to watch the office at 8:00 and have a good meal. Then before I go to bed I am going to review embryology once more. Then I am going to try and go to bed early. Then this weekend I am going camping so after Friday's test I am out of here.

Los Lonely Boys ndash; Forgiven

This is a band that first found out about when their first album was released and I started hearing their biggest hit to date, Heaven on the radio. To best describe LLB I would call them a mash up of two other artists that I enjoy. They take the Texas blues of Stevie Ray Vaughan and mix in the Latin grooves and style of Carlos Santana. The self describe their music as Texicana Rock N Roll. I think itrsquo;s a fairly accurate term. This band absolutely jams and I really enjoy their sound.

The album Forgiven is their latest release. This is actually my first listen to the album. Itrsquo;s got some of the softer songs that you expect from LLB with their shared vocals and it also some good rockers mixed in. This is a very good album and will definitely get some subsequent listens.

Luther Allison ndash; Live In Chicago

If yoursquo;re not familiar with Luther Allison, you need to be. I discovered the talent that is Luther Allison a few years ago while browsing through CDs at a Barnes Noble. They had a live cd of his that had a lot of blues standards on it, so I took it to one of the listening posts in the store and tried it out. Needless to say I was blown away by it and immediately purchased that album. After listening to that one I sought out more albums by Luther and bought whatever I could find by this talented bluesman, including this album. Like a lot of bluesman that I have come to like I discovered Luther a little late. The unfortunate part of this is that Luther passed away from cancer in 1997. The good news was that he was very prolific during his career and has several great albums. His studio albums were actually very good and his live performances were legendary.

Unlike the first live album (Live in Montreux) that I purchased, the Live in Chicago 2 disc set features more music that Luther wrote than the blues standards that are featured on the Montreux release. Favorite tracks on this release are Cherry Red Wine and Bad Love. Both of these songs feature long blues jams and Allisonrsquo;s strong, emotive vocals up front. When he does bring out a blues standard like It Hurts Me Too he plays the heck out of it and does not hold back. One feature that is great on this recording is the classic inclusion of a horn section with his band. The Memphis horns perform on this recording and absolutely add some great substance to the music. Luther was a true master of the blues and this recording exemplifies that.

Tomorrow will include the last letter "L" artist Lynyrd Skynyrd and a tasty live album of music from them. Iapos;ve started listening to it now but wonapos;t finish it until tomorrow morning. Then we head into the letter M and discuss some great albums from some wonderful artists.
